    Abstract: <p>The TATA-binding protein (TBP) is a key regulator of eukaryotic transcription initiation. The TBP homolog from Giardia intestinalis (gTBP) is highly divergent among all TBPs; notably lacking three of the four phenylalanine residues to unwind double- stranded DNA.
