Bruno Mathsson
(1907 - 1988)

The "Eva" chair followed the example of Alvar Aalto, using bent laminated wood frames in sophisticated and elegant curves with backs and seats of stretched leather. It was first produced using new industrial processes in bending and laminating in 1934. The "Eva" is also produced with hemp webbing in place of the leather.

Mathsson chairs were chosen for Traill College and for Champlain College. At the time of Trent's 25th anniversary in 1989, there were two of these chairs in Champlain College senior common room. No examples could be located by 2003.
