Polypropylene chair of 1962.
This chair is a descendant of a Robin Day
chair which won a Museum of Modern Art prize in 1948. Robin Day was
born and worked in Britain, but was influenced by Charles Eames in producing
this example of functional simplicity. This chair is considered one
of the greatest successes in modern chair design.
These chairs were located in several locations
on the Thom-designed campus, including Otonabee College snack bar. As
of 2003, many still exist in Otonabee College, and include, along with
the side chair, two armchairs and one desk.
