1917 Letter 7
The King’s Canadian Red Cross Convalescent Hospital
Upper Lodge,
Bushey Park, Hampton Hill
May 31 191[7]
Dear Mother –
Have just got orders to report for duty at Clarence House. It is a V.A.D. place – auxiliary hospital to Bushey – so I won’t be far away.
I will be the only Sister over there and it isn’t very easy to get along with Miss Lewis. She used to be with Mrs. Fleming, you know.
However, I can do as well as others. Andy is leaving here in a month or so and I shouldn’t care for the place without her so am taking this as a good way out.
It is a lovely place over there near Putney and Richmond and nearer town than this is, and I will be my own mistress.
I hate moves and feel that this time I am being moved to make room for Miss Wishart but that is neither here nor there.
The address will be –
Clarence House
Priory Lane
Rothampton, Surrey.
Well Mother dear I must pack so will say farewell for the present.
Lovingly –
Helen.
