In keeping with Lang Pioneer Village's mission statement of preserving, promoting and authentically recreating the rural history of the Peterborough County, this project has documented the historical connection between the area and the War of 1812. The implementation of an Ontario turtle DNA archive at Trent University
Seven of the eight turtle species in Ontario are classified as 'at risk' with two, the spotted and the wood turtle, classified as endangered.
