Dissecting a doctor's ledgers two centuries later

The research project centered around Dr. John Hutchison's business ledgers from the 1800's [sic]. Using these original documents an analysis of the doctors income during some of the most comprehensive years will be accomplished. Measuring Risk in Peterborough

Unintentional injury is the leading cause of death and injury in children and youth in Canada. The Peterborough Risk Watch Network aims to reduce the rate and prevalence of injury for children and youth in the city and county of Peterborough, Ontario. The project aims to locate local injury data sources and create a rubric tool that will be used to evaluate the injury data sources for their potential applicability with injury prevention initiatives. The project involves an environmental scan, personal discussions, and the creation of a rubric assessment tool. The environmental scan involves looking for organizations that deal with children and youth in Peterborough and to see if they possess injury information. The number of injury data sources pertaining to Peterborough children and youth is limited. The rubric assessment tool developed is digital and user friendly. The data sources’ usefulness is limited based on the type of information contained does not go into great detail. Made in Peterborough - Curriculum to Grow the Leadership of Women in Politics

Women in Canada are missing from all levels of politics and there has been a painstakingly slow increase in the number of women involved. Women in Politics workshops have been run throughout Ontario and Canada as a whole. This project looks at Peterborough, Ontario and the opportunity for the YWCA of the area to host such workshops. It was found that workshops about women in politics are effective when the right curriculum is used and have an impact on the women who attend. This project is contributing to the Land Between's mandate through a focused study of a single township in the Land Between. Manvers Township, a part of Victoria County and now also part of the City of Kawartha Lakes, is a strong example of the heritage value and importance of rural townships across The Land Between. Note: The Land Between is a non-profit organization focused on the preservation of the land extending roughly from Georgian Bay, west to Kingston.
